Kotwali police have arrested nine more people on charges of attempting to attack the Durga Puja mandapa at JM Sen Hall in the city and attacking the police by tearing down the puja banner-poster outside the mandap.
Among them are NM Nasir Uddin, Convener of Bangladesh Youth Rights Council Chittagong Metropolitan, Member Secretary Engineer Mizanur Rahman, Office Secretary Emon Mohammad and Convener of Bayazid Police Station Dr Russell. Emon were arrested from Chawkbazar area, Nasir from Teri Bazar area and Russell from Gate No. 2 of Sholashahar, police said.
According to the police, the leaders of the Bangladesh Youth Rights Council were identified by looking at the pictures and CCTV footage taken during the attempt to attack the puja mandap of JM Sen Hall. The interrogation of the arrested persons proved that they were involved in the incident. Among them are attack planners and leaders.
