Chittagong city and district police in a series of drives detained 9 BNP-Jamaat-Shibir activists from port city and two upazilas of the district on Sunday night.
Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district said police detained six activists in overnight raids from various places of Sitakunda and Lohagara upazilas on Saturday night to prevent possible acts of sabotage during country-wide blockade enforced by BNP-led 20 party alliance. CMP police also detained two hartal supporters from separate areas in the city Among the detainees, two were BNP activists, four Chhatra Shibir activists and three Jammat activists, the police officer added.
