Some nine leaders and activists of the rebel candidate of Awami League have been expelled in six unions of Shibalaya upazila for the UP elections to be held on January 31. A letter signed by District Awami League President Golam Mohiuddin and General Secretary Abdus Salam on Saturday expelled them from the posts of executive and general members of their respective organizations in accordance with Article 48/11 of the constitution.
In the forth coming elections, 33 chairmen candidates, 242 for member posts and 88 for reserved women members are contesting in 7 unions.
It is learned that Abul Bashar Sumonwith the boat symbol, The independent chairman candidate Abdul Quaderabd Fazlur Rahman, Hafeez Shahidullah of Islamic Shashontantro Andolon, Altamas Mecca of JSD have become candidates in Teota Union. Rebel candidate Union Awami League president Abdul Karim and former Dhaka district BCL office secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain have been expelled for violating party discipline.
Meanwhile, Abbas Ali with boat Symbol, independent candidates Ohidul Islam, SubhashGoswami, Zakir Hossain and Mizanur Rahman Mizan of Islamic Shashontantro Andolon are campaigning in Uthali Union. Incumbent Awami League union adviser Masudur Rahman Masudwas expelled for being a rebel candidate.
Besides, FH SahriarHalim Fakir is fighting with the boat symbol in Shibalaya Model Union. Rebel candidate Union Awami League Secretary Abdus Salam and Upazila Juba League convening committee member Mohsin Rajuhave been expelled. Independent candidate is the current chairman Alal Uddin Alal.
On the other hand, the current chairman of Arua Union Akhtaruzzaman Khan Masum got the boat symbol. Awami League member Mostakim Rahman Khan Anik, son of former chairman Sultan Khan Awami League rebel candidate has been expelled from the union. Independent candidate Mahbubur Rahman.
Awami League candidate Abdul Mannan and independent candidate Anisur Rahman are the candidates in Ulail Union.
Awami League candidate Mahibuzzaman Tarit in Mahadevpur union. Rebel Candidate Singer Jalal Uddin, the cultural secretary of the Upazila Awami League has been expelled from the party. In addition, current chairmen Mahmudul Amin Duke and Shahjahan Ali have become independent candidates here.
Shimulia Union Awami League secretary Mohammad Abdur Rahman Mridha and member Aynal Haque have been expelled for being rebel candidates. Here again Zahir Uddin Manik has become the candidate for boat.
