UNB, Dhaka :Parliament will go into its eighth session on November 8, after over a month’s of recess. President M Abdul Hamid convened the session exercising his power bestowed upon him by article 72 (1) of the Constitution. The House will go into session at 4:30pm on the day, said a Parliament Secretariat handout on Thursday.Before the House goes into session at 4:30pm, the business advisory committee of parliament will meet with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair. The meeting will fix the duration and businesses of the coming session.The session is likely to see the passage of some important bills, includingthe one allowing registered political parties to nominate candidates in local body elections, according to Parliament sources.The Cabinet on Monday approved drafts seeking amendments to four laws and one ordinance, aiming to hold local government polls on partisan basis or through party symbol or independently.The drafts, proposed to be amended, are: ‘Local Government (Union Parishad) (amendment) Bill, 2015’, ‘Upazila Parishad (amendment) Bill, 2015’, ‘Zila Parishad (amendment) Bill, 2015′, Local Government (City Corporation) (amendment) Bill, 2015’.The last session of the current parliament was prorogued on September 10 while the tenth parliament was formed through the January 5, 2014 election. BNP-led 20-party alliance and other political parties boycotted it.
