The final round of 8th Bangladesh Chemistry Olympiad-2017 organized by Bangladesh Chemical Society was held at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The examination was held on Friday. A total of 334 participants selected from preliminary round from 11 centers of the country took part in the final round examination. The examination was held in two phases theoretical and practical. An interactive ChemShow was also organized for the participants
In the Prize Giving Ceremony, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP was present as the Chief guest. Chairman of Islami Bank Arastoo Khan and Vice-chancellor of BUET Prof Dr Saiful Islam were the special guests. The program was inaugurated by the welcome speech of the Convener of Olympiad Prof Wahab Khan. The General Secretary Prof Md. Aftab Ali Sheikh of Bangladesh Chemical Society introduced the activity of Bangladesh Chemical Society to popularize the Chemistry. President of Bangladesh Chemical Society, Md. Abdul Karim chaired the program.
The result of the examination was declared by the Convener of Examination Sub-Committee Prof Dr Nilufar Nahar. Dipta Aakash Biswas from Notre Dame College secured 1st position and Md Tamzid HossainTanim of Govt MM City College, Khulna and Anik Mojumder of Dhaka Residential Model College were placed the 2nd and 3rd position, respectively. Top 20 participants awarded in final round.  
The prize giving session was concluded by the Co-convener Dr Md. Shakhawat H Firoz by giving thanks to the teachers, students and their guardians, BUET authority, the volunteers, students of Department of Chemistry, BUET and to the print and electronic media. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd for its assistance in fostering the chemistry among the young scientists.
After the prize giving ceremony, a cultural event ‘ Rosayoner Golpo’ script and planning by Dr Md. Shakhawat Hossain Firoz was performed by Rosayon Poribar of BUET, University of Dhaka and Jagannath University enlighten the activity of Bangladesh Chemical Society with lot of claps. A drama script by Prof Dr Enamul Haque and directed by Laki Inam was performed by Nagorik Nattagon. A member of Rosayon Poribar Singer Sumon Bappi also performs in ‘ Rosayoner Golpo’.
