88 journalists infected with coronavirus

A total of 88 journalists, including one from Dhaka Tribune, have tested positive for Covid-19 across the country till now, with 70 of them being in Dhaka. So far, 14 of the journalists have recovered from the disease. Ahammad Foyez?, admin of a social media-based journalist group “Our media, our rights” accumulated the data from different sources.
According to the statistics, on April 28, Humayun Kabir Khokon, 46, city editor of Bangla daily Shomoyer Alo, died with Covid-19 symptoms.
Later, the journalist was found positive for the virus along with his wife and son.
On May 6, Mahmudul Hakim Apu, senior sub-editor of the same media house, also died with coronavirus symptoms; although his sample was collected for testing, the result is yet unknown.
On May 7, another journalist named Aslam Rahman who was a staff reporter of Bangla daily Bhorer Kagoj died with Covid-19 symptoms including respiratory complications.
However, the day before his death the result for his coronavirus test report was negative.
The 88 infected journalists are from 42 national and regional media houses, including 19 newspapers, 18 television channels, two news portals, and two radio channels.
Private television channel NTV has the highest number of infections with 15 people, including two reporters.
Twelve of the total infected worked in Ittefaq, eight in Shomoyer Alo, six in Deepto TV, three in Rtv, two each in Somoy TV, Daily Sun, Independent TV, Prothom Alo, Jamuna TV (one Narsingdi correspondent), Alokito Bangladesh (one Kapashia correspondent), SA TV (one is Gazipur correspondent).
One person has been found infected from each of Dhaka Tribune, ATN News, Amader Notun Somoy, Bangladesher Khobor, Daily Songram, editor of the Sitalakkha newspaper (Narayanganj), Bamna upazila correspondent of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj, Bamna correspondent of the Daily Ajkal, B-Barta, Inkilab, Janata, Kalerkantha, editor of the daily Amar Barta, Daily Loksomaj (Jessore), Daily Protidiner Songbad, Daily Manabzamin, Daily Jayjaydin, daily Desh Rupantor, Maasranga TV, Gazipur correspondent of Ekattor TV, Channel I, Banglavision TV, IP TV Notun Shomoy, Desh TV, BTV, DBC news, ATN Bangla, Radio Amar, Narayanganj district correspondent of Radio Today and Jamalpur correspondent of news portal Purboposhchimbd.
