Joint forces arrested 30 people, including 12 activists of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir, from different areas of the district on various charges in a drive from Monday night to Tuesday morning.
A team comprising members of police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh conducted the drive in different areas of the district and arrested the 37 people, said officer-in-charge of the Special Branch (SB) of Chapainawabganj Police Akmal Hossain.
Sohrab Ali, suspended vice-chairman and also a Jamaat leader, was among the arrestees.
Satkhira Correspondent reports: A ‘joint force’ of different agencies during a drive in different areas of the district from Sunday night to Monday morning arrested 37 people including 15 activists of Jamaat-Shibir on various charges.
A team of the ‘joint force’, comprising members of police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh, conducted the drive in eight upazilas of the district and arrested the 37 people, said sub-inspector of the Special Branch (SB) of Satkhira Police Kamal Hossain.
Among the arrestees, 10 are from Sadar, six from Kolaroa, three from Tala, four from Kaliganj, four from Shyamnagar, two from Ashashuni,
two from Debhata, and six from Patkelghata upazilas
UNB from Comilla adds: Police arrested 15 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir during a drive in different areas of the district on various charges on Monday night.
Inspector Mahbubur Rahman of Special Branch (SB) said a team of police conducted the drive in three upazilas of the district and arrested the 15.
Among the arrestees, 11 are from Manoharganj, two from Chauddagram and two from Burichong upazilas.
