The 85th birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatnessa, the beloved spouse of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed through a day-long programme in the city and elsewhere in the district yesterday. Programs began with placing of wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Fazilatnessa at the city’s Darul Fazal Market AL office in the morning. Measnwhile , Chittagong City Awami League organized a discussion meeting and Milad Mahfil on Andarkillah Shahi Jam-e-Mosjid Mosque premises after Johr Prayer
City AL president and former Mayor A B M Mohiuddin Chowdhury presided over the function while AL leaders Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, Engineer M A Rashid, Badiul Alam, Advocate Iftaker Saimul Chowdhury among others addressed the function.
Leaders of Chittagong city AL paid tributes to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatenessa Mujib by placing wreath at her portrait at city’s Darul Fazal Market party office.
Speaking on the occasion the former city Mayor said Bangamata Fazilatnessa had sacrificed her whole life for the people.
“We have learned many things of politics from the life of the great lady”, he added.
To mark the occasion, different educational institutions, including Chittagong University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), organized Milad Mahfils.
Special discussion meetings on the great lady were held in primary and secondary schools where teachers and students interacted on different aspects of Begum Mujib, also mother of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
