Police in special drives arrested 49 drug peddlers and recovered huge drugs from their possessions from different parts under 13 upazilas of the district during the last 15 hours ending Friday.
The police seized the drugs including Phensidyl, Yaba tablets, Ganja and locally made liquor.
Police said, during the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested 13 people with 1506 liters of locally made liquor and 5 liters of alcohol, Chirirbandar police three, Phulbari police three, Khansama five, Birganj six, Kaharole four, Nawabganj three with 450 grams of Ganja, Parbatipur three, Ghoraghat two, Hakimpur police four with 114 bottles of Phensidyl and 698 pieces of Yaba, Birampur police arrested three persons.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
BSS from Satkhira adds: Police in special drives arrested 33 people on various charges from different areas in seven upazilas of the district during the last 12 hours.
Police said, during the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 12 people, Kalaroa police five, Tala police seven, Shyamnagar police two, Kaliganj police three, Assasuni police two, Debhata police one and Patkelghata police one.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
The arrested were sent to jail this morning.
