A total of 80,442 candidates appeared in the admission test on Friday for only 1,640 seats of the first year Honours course, Science Faculty(Ka unit), of Dhaka University.
During the test examinations in different centres, 17 candidates were arrested on the charge of adopting unfairness in the examination halls.
Acting Proctor Amzad Ali said, “The university authorities caught them red handed while they were adopting unfair means in the examination with the help of cell phones and other electric devices. They have been handed over to the respected nearest police stations of the centres. We are taking preparation to lodge cases against them,” he said.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Chief Coordinator of Ka-unit admission test Professor Dr Md. Imdadul Hoque, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Md Yousuf Ali Mollah, Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman and senior teachers and officers of the
University visited the examination halls. The admission test was held in 76 centres in the city.
Admission seekers Priom Sarker and Jayed Hasan have been sent to the Lalbagh Police Station, Sadman Ahmed Soykot, Badiuzzaman Jewel, Imdadul Haque Khokon and Rafia Hasan to Shahbagh Police Station, Raisul Islam, Ifratun Kawsar, Rezwanul Ehsan and Farhan Nishat to Mohammadpur Police Station, Tariqul Islam and Syed Alamgir Kabir to Motijheel Police Station and Ruhul Amin Setu, Fuad Hasan and Rahim to Kalabagan Thana.
