Seven persons, including Haji Siraj Haque Saodagar, owner the storehouse, “Agrani Food Industries” were detained in this connection, said Kajal Kanti Chowdhury, assistant commissioner of the Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
He said they were looking into how the rice sacks bearing seals of the food department came to the storehouse. They also seized empty packets of “Bashmoti Chal” and “Chinigura Chal.”
The detectives suspect that by using rice trimming machine, the rice is sold in open market as “Bashmoti Chal” or “Chinigura Chal”.
