800 farmers get incentive for Aus farming in Jamalpur, Gaibandha

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) distributed Aus incentive among 500 farmers in three upazilas of the district during the current season.
DAE arranged the programme and under the programme the farmers got quality seeds, fertilizer and cash money as incentive for the farming.
DAE office source said a total of 500 farmers in Melandah, Madarganj and Islampur upazila of the district got the incentives for cultivation HYV Aush paddy and Nerica variety paddy.
A farmer received 5-kg seeds, 20-kg urea, 10-kg DAP and 10-kg MOP
fertilizer for cultivating one bigha of Aus land. Each of the farmers also got Taka 400 for irrigation purpose.
On the other hand, a farmer for cultivating one bigha of Nerica variety paddy got 5-kg seeds, 20-kg urea, 10-kg DAP and 10-kg MOP fertilizer.
Besides, each of the farmers also got Taka 800 for irrigation and cleaning weeds.
BSS from Gaibandha adds: A total of 300 farmers of the district got cash incentives of Taka 4.05 lakh to buy seeds and fertilizers for the cultivation of Aus paddy during the current Kharif-1 season.
Each of the farmers has received Tk 1,350 to farm high yielding Aus variety on a bigha of land successfully, office sources said.
Under the programme, a farmer got five kg of high quality seed, 20 kg urea, 10 kg DAP, 10 kg MOP and cash of Taka 400 for irrigation purpose.
The objective of the programme is to inspire the farmers to boost production of Aus paddy to enhance the country’s total production in less cost to ensure food security. Deputy Director of department of agriculture extension M. Aminul Islam said the kinds worth taka 1,350 had already been distributed to the farmers of the district fairly.
Initiatives had also been taken to strengthen the monitoring and supervision in farmers’ level to make the Aus farming a grand success, he added.
