Two chairman candidates, one from Awami League (AL) and another independent, submitted their nomination papers on Thursday, the last day of the submission of nomination papers to contest the Zilla Parisad polls slated for December 28.
Election commission office sources said a total of 78 including 11 female reserved member candidates of different political parties and independent ones filed candidatures for 15 wards of Chittagong district on the last day of the submission of nomination papers on Thursday.
Police and regional election commission office sources said submission of nomination papers was held peacefully amidst huge festivity and enthusiasm.
