Eight Bangladeshi teenage boys, who were trafficked to India 21 months back and kept in shelter home, returned home through Benapole check post on Tuesday night.
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members handed them over to the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at night.
The boys are Yeasin Sheikh, 12, and his brother Ibrahim Sheikh, 15, Masum Billah, 16, Mujahidul Islam, 16, Azibar Sarder, 17, Wasikul Islam, 16, Nayeem Gazi, 14, and Ariful Islam, 16.
They hail from different areas of Khulna and Satkhira districts.
Abdul Wahab, commander of BGB Benapole ICP Camp, said all the eight were trafficked to India through different bordering areas 21 months back. Indian police arrested them from Kolkata and sent them to a court.
Later, they were kept in Dhrubashrom shelter home.
The process to bring them back started following intervention of the home ministries of the two countries.
Police will be handed over the boys to their respective families through Bangladesh National Women Lawyers’ Association, said Apurbo Hasan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station.
