Authorities of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd have suspended eight officials and employees over Friday’s Narayanganj mosque blast that left 27 people dead.
In a notice issued on Monday, the authorities informed about the suspension due to their negligence.
It also said show cause notice will also be served upon the suspended staff.Those who suspended are: Titas’s Fatulla zone manager M Sirajul Islam, deputy manager Mahmudur Rahman Rabbi, assistant engineers SM Hasan Shahriar and Manik Mia, senior superviser Monibur Rahman Chowdhury, M Aiyub Ali, Hanif Mia and Ismail Pradhan.
Titas Gas managing director M Al Mamun told media that the mosque is located under Fatulla zonal office.
“Manager, deputy manager, two engineers and four employees of Emergency Response Team of the office have been suspended for their negligence,” he said.
A massive explosion at Baitus Salat Jam-e Mosque in Paschim Talla area of Fatulla under Narayanganj Sadar upazila on September 4 left 27 people dead till Monday.
The condition of rest 10 was stated to be critical. They are now undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
