8 rivers marked rise, 71 fall

Water levels in 8 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise and 71 station recorded fall. Among the 83 monitored water level stations, water levels at nine monitored river stations are flowing above their respective danger marks while one river station has remained steady, a bulletin issued by FFWC said on Thursday. The Jamuna at Sariakandi, the GUR at Singra, the Atrai at Baghabari, the Dhaleswari at Elasin, the Lakhya at Lakhpur, Lakhya at Narayanganj, the Kaliganga at Taraghat, Dhaleswari at Jagir and the Kangsha at Jariajanjail are flowing above their respective danger levels by 8cm, 1cm, 43cm, 50cm, 82cm, 0cm, 24cm, 17cm and 29cm.
All major rivers are in falling trend, the FFWC bulletin added.
Significant rainfall was recorded in some stations in different districts
during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am on Thursday.
A total of 80 mm rainfall were recorded at Sunamganj, 52 mm at Bhairab Bazar, 61 mm at Kanaighat and 28 mm at Teknaf.
