Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued eight people while being trafficked to India through Putkhali border in Sharsha upazila in Jessore district on Tuesday night.
Sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station Firoz Khan said being tipped off that some Bangladeshis were being trafficked to India through the border, a team of the border force conducted a drive in the area and rescued the eight at about 10:00 pm.
The human traffickers, however, fled the scene sensing the presence of the BGB troops, said the SI.
