Eight political parties from BNP-led 20-party alliance will contest in the 11th Parliamentary election with BNP’s ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ as symbol.
The 20-party alliance wrote it in a letter to the Election Commission on Sunday.
The letter confirmed the BNP’s participation in the election. It also informed the EC about the eight parties’ choice of symbol.
The letter asked the EC to allocate the election symbol ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ to the parties.
A delegation led by Bijon Kanti Sarker, an adviser to BNP Chairperson, handed over the letter to the Commission officials.
The BNP leader told journalists that they had handed over a list containing the names of eight registered parties linked to the alliance. The parties are the BNP, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Kalyan Party, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), Khelafat Majlish, Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA), Bangladesh Muslim League and Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh.
