In regular market monitoring during the ongoing Ramadan month, Consumers Rights protection Directorate, Chittagong chapter fined Tk.1.60 lakh to 8 organisations in the city on Wednesday.
A monitoring team led by its DeputyDirector Jubair Ahmed duly accompanied by CMP police conducted raid in GEC crossing, WASA intersection and Lalkhan bazaar area on Wednesday.
Asstt. Director of CRPD Bikash Das told the media that Tawakul Restaurant at WASA crossing was fined with Tk.25 thousand for using rotten edible oil and preparations of iftari items in an uncleaned and unhygienic conditions.
The monitoring tea also fined Handy India restaurant,Mita Restora, Well Food and Candy restaurant with different amount of fines.
Besides, yhighway sweat meat, Aziz stores convicted Tk.25 thousand each for realizing higher prices of the commodities. During the raid, Sikder Medical in same area also fined tk.10 thousand for selling expired drugs, sources said. Sources said the moniotoring drives of the CRPD will continue their drive during the holy month.
