At least 79 miscreants, including 57 members of Agyan party gangs, and eight infamous snatchers, were detained by the Detective Branch (DB) of Police in the last three days as part of the crackdown on illegal activities before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police also recovered 75 lakh fake notes, 61150 pieces of yaba tablets & 12 mobile phone sets.
Abdul Baten, Additional Commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police(DMP) told the reporter at Media Centre on Saturday
He said that the detective personnel seized at least Tk eight lakh from the muggers who were arrested from the city’s New Market and Jatrabari areas.
“The snatchers people mug and distribute the maximum portion of the money they also the money for bearing the expenditure of cases and taking bails from different courts,” Abdul Baten said after quoting the detained muggers.
They also bear the cost of wounded men’s treatment, he said.
Aggyan parties, or dope gangs, rob their victims after making them unconscious, which sometimes become fatal.
Eight counterfeit currency makers, six drug dealers and eight muggers were also detained in these drives.
Members of law enforcement have tightened security measures to keep law and order under control and to ensure security to everyone during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said counterfeit notes worth Tk75 lakh, 61,150 pieces of yaba tablets and 12 mobile phones were recovered during the drives.
