Reckless driving again took lives on the streets. At least eight persons, including a traffic police and a school teacher, were killed and many others seriously injured in separate road crashes across the country on Tuesday.
In Cox’Bazar, at least two motorcyclists were killed in a road crash when the bike wanted to overtake a passenger bus and overturned on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway under Chakoria upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Monaf, 36, son of Ali Ahmad of North Harbang area and Azizur Rahman, 30, son of one Rakim Ullah of the same area.
Local sources said that, the biker lost control over the steering while overtaking a Chattogram-bound bus in Harbang Goalmara area and crashed under wheels of the bus, leaving them dead on the spot.
Haradhan Chandra Das, Sub-Inspector of Chakoria Highway Police Outpost confirmed the news to the media.
In Brahmanbaria, at least two persons were killed in separate road crashes in Ashuganj and Bijoynagar upazilas of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Ataur Rahman, 60, from Khorira village of the upazla and Porash Miah, 18.
“Ataur Rahman died when a truck hit him while “Porash Miah was killed on the spot as his motorbike slipped and smashed into a wall at Singarbill Bazar area.
Suman Kumar Aditya, Officer-in-Charge of Bijoynagar Police Station told the news to the media.
In Bogura, a constable of traffic police was killed when a truck rammed him at Mokamtola Bondor on the Bogura-Rangpur Highway on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, 52, inhavitant of Pabna district.
Traffic Inspector Rashedul Islam confirmed the matter to the media.
In Narail, a school teacher named Samir Biswas, 30, was killed and two others injured when a pickup van hit a motorcycle at Kusbaria area on the Khulna-Jessore road on Thursday noon.
Probir Biswas, Officer in Charge of Lohagora Police Station told the news to the media.
In Sylhet, a motorcyclist named Barkat Ali, 22, was killed when a human hauller hit him in Akalia area of the city.
Harunur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge of Jalalabad Police Station confirmed the news to the media.
