8 more killed in road crashes

At least eight persons, including son of ex- BNP lawmaker and four women, were killed in separate road crashes across the country on Tuesday.
In Chandpur, at least three persons, including two women, were killed in separate road crashes of the district on Tuesday.
A banker and his 10-year old niece were killed and two others seriously injured when a passenger bus hit an auto-rickshaw at Gabtoli of Ashkati union in Sadar upazila in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Emran Hossian, 34, Officer of Gazipur Branch of SIBL and son of one Tazul Islam and his niece Fatema Akter, 10.
Rezaul Karim, Sub-Inspector of Chandpur Model Police Station confirmed the tragic news.
Meanwhile, a woman was crushed under a pickup van when she was crossing the road at Mandari on the Chandpur-Cumilla Highway.
The victim was identified as Jhorna Begum, 35, wife of expatriate Shah Alam, resident of Haziganj upazila.
In Dinajpur, an woman and her daughter-in-law were killed in a tragic
road accident on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj Highway in Nawabganj Upazila on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Amina Begum, 67, wife of Abdus Salam, and her daughter-in law Sahida Begum, 55, wife of Abdur Rashid from Begunbari village in Ghoraghat upazila.
Subrato Kumer Sarker, Officer-in-Charge of Nawabganj Police Station said.
In Kushtia, son of ex- BNP lawmaker Reza Ahmed Bachchu Mollah was killed in a tragic road crash in the capital city early on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Akib Reza, 23, student of BBA in a private university of the city.
Sohel Reza, relative of the deceased, said Akib returned to their Mohammadpur residence from Kushtia by a night coach early in the morning. But he mistakenly left his bag in the bus and come out of home to bring the bag from Kalyanpur bus counter. But a goods-laden truck ran over his motorbike near the Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital, leaving him dead on the spot.
In Narayanganj, one person was killed and four others injured in a face to face collision between a truck and covered van at Burebari under Sonargaown Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
Deceases identity couldn’t be known instantly.
In Jamalpur, a motor bike rider named Saju Miah,32, was killed when a truck rammed his bike at Banarerpar under sadar upazila of the district on Monday night.
