Cox’s Bazar Correspondent :Rescuers recovered eight bodies from a trawler on Friday that sank in Khudiar Tek area of Kutubdia upazila in the Bay of Bengal on Thursday morning.In-charge of Kutubdia Coast Guard Tareque Mostafa said, members of Coast Guard and Navy recovered eight bodies which got trapped inside the master’s cabin of the sunken launch.”There might have been more bodies inside the sunken vessel as the trawler has not been fully salvaged yet,” he said. Among the passengers, 43 were rescued from Kutubdia and Maheshkhali coast on the same day.The fishing vessel was heading towards Malaysia with about 100 passengers on board.Officer in-Charge of Kutubdia Police Station Angsha Thoai said, a case has been filed against 11 persons on charge of human trafficking. Besides, another case was lodged with the same police station against the rescued passengers as they were trying to go to Malaysia illegally with the help of human traffickers.The trawler, FB Idris, had set off from Chittagong’s Majhirhat around 2am on Thursday. It sank in Khudiyar Tek point on Thursday morning while allegedly carrying passengers illegally to Malaysia.
