Some 8 canidates out of 12 in Khulna-2 and Khulna-3 constituencies have lost their security deposit as they failed to bag one-eight of the cast votes in the 11th National Parliamentary election, held on December 30.
Khulna District Returning Officer (RO) Mohammad Helal Hossain ascertained this matter to the journalists.
Mentionable here that BNP candidates of both the above-mentioned constituencies have managed to save their deposits though they could not win.
According to Retuning Office sources, Voters numbers of Khulna-2 Constituency are 2,94,116among which 1,45,210 voters cast their votes.
Awami League backed Candidate Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, Nephew of Bangabandhu won from Khulna-2 constituency who has bagged 1,12,100 votes while his nearest opponent BNP backed candidate Md. Nazrul Islam Monju has bagged 27, 379 votes.
The candidates who lost their security deposit from Khulna-2 constituency are -HM Shahadat Hossain ( Scyth) of CPB, SM Sohag ( Television) of BNF, M Idris Ali Biltu (Rose) of Zaker Party, Monira Begum (Fish) of Ganofront Md. Abdul Awal ( Handfan) of Islami Andolon.
On the other hand, Awami League backed candidate Begum Monnuzan Sufian gained 1,30,806 votes and won from Khulna-3 constituency while BNP backed candidate Rakibul Islam Bokul gained 23,606 votes who is the nearest opponent of Monnuzan.
The candidates who lost their security deposit from Khulna-3 constituency are – SM Sabbir Hossain (Rose) of Zaker Party, Janardaon Datta (Ladder) of BSD and Md. Muzzammil Haque (Handfan) of Islami Andolon.
