8 killed in road crashes

Eight people were killed in three road crashes across the country on Sunday morning.
In Dhaka, Four people were killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Nawabganj road.
One of the deceased was identified as auto-rickshaw driver Uzzal, 27, of Mugarchar of Keraniganj and the identities of three auto rickshaw passengers, aged between 25 to 40 years, could not be known yet, reports UNB.
The accident took place as a covered van of Butter Bond Company hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw from behind near Tulshikhani Bridge at 7 am, said highway police.
The covered van managed to flee after the incident.
Witnesses say the unidentified victims came here from Rangpur to work as farm labourer.
Hearing the news over enforcement of lockdown, they were returning to their village, he said.

Nawabganj police said Srinagar police will take necessary steps as the accident occurred in Srinagagar area.In Comilla, Three people were killed in a road accident in Comilla Sadar upazila when a truck hit a battery run auto rickshaw, reports our Comilla correspondent Masud Alam.
The deceased were identified as Helal Mian, 60, Motin Mian, 65, and Abdul Kader, 70, of Dumuria Chanpur area. They were going to the Gumti River by the auto rickshaw in the morning for catching fish.
Comilla Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Anwarul Haque said the accident took place when a truck hit the auto rickshaw in Palpara bridge area leaving the three passengers of the auto rickshaw dead on the spot.
In Panchgarh, A motorcyclist died as lace of his backpack got entangled with the wheel of the bike at Tetulia upazila in Panchagarh district.
Deceased Ripon, 32, was the area manager (FlexiLoad) of Grameenphone in Tetulia. He was the son of Abdul Kader, a resident of Bondibhita village in the upazila, reported our correspondent.
Tetulia Model Police station officer in-charge (OC) Abu Sayem Mia said the accident took place in Shalbahan Dahuk Bridge area on the Tetulia-Panchagarh highway, leaving him dead on the spot.
