Eight drug peddlers and traffickers were rounded up in separate drives in the port city on August 18 last .
The vigilance forces of the NarcoticControl department apprehended them with 61 000 pieces of yaba from Chowmuhani, Mariners Road, Pologround, Fishery ghat, Baakalia, Nlapara, and New Market areas of the city. Deputy Director of NCD Shamim Ahmed confirmed the news of arrest to the media at a press briefing . The detained drug peddlers identified as Kabir Ahmed, Rafiqul Islam, Iman Hossain, Rabbi Hossain, Mamun Rashid, Abdul Hamid, Hazera Begum, Noor Mohammad and they hail from Chattogram, Comilla and Coxsbazar district.
Police sources said separate cases have been lodged with the Kotwali, Sadargh at, Bakalia and Double Mooring thanas under CMP.
