Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) on Thursday seized 8 gold bars weighing .832 grams from two passengers entering into India at Benapole Land Port worth about Tk 42 lakh.
Tipped off, CIID team searched a passenger’s body and found 4 gold bars in the immigration area of the land port on Thursday morning.
He was identified as Md Sujon Mian.
Searching the call list of the passenger, CIID team identified a suspicious
contract and communicated in that number. The CIID team then identified another person who was waiting at no men’s land of the border.
After searching his body, CIID team recovered another 4 gold bars who was identified as Md Johny Mollah.
CIID arrested those people and handed over to the Benapole Land Port Police Station.
CIID has deposited recovered gold bars at the Benapole Customs Warehouse.
