A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) mobile court on Wednesday sentenced eight employees of four mineral water factories in the city Tk 4.1 crore on charges of bottling water without permission.
The court also sealed off three factories, seized three water pumps and destroyed 129 jars, each containing 20 litres of water. Sources at the RAB-2 headquarters
said executive magistrate Md Helal Uddin conducted the mobile court drive in four mineral water producing factories at Karwan Bazar on Thursday noon.
During the drive, the mobile court found that the factories were bottling water directly from the WASA supply line without filtering.
