Eight students of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) were expelled for misconduct.
The expelled students are activists and supporters of Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL), the student wing of ruling Awami League.
The decision was taken at the 54th meeting of Regent Board, of the highest policy making forum of the varsity, on Saturday, presided over by the Vice-Chancellor Md Anwar Hossain, Of the eight students, three have been expelled for life term and five for one year.
The life term expelled students are Humayra Azmira Arin, Md Rokonuzzaman and Ekramul Kabir, who are post-graduate students of
Fisheries and Marine Bioscience Department of the university.
Asif Al Mahmud and Matsassin Billah, students of Physical Education and Sports Department, Mahmudul Hasan Shakib of Fisheries and Marine Bioscience Department, Nishat Tasnim, a student of Computer Science and Engineering Department and Harunur Rashid, a student of the Department of Biomedical Engineering were expelled for one year said a varsity press relaese.
