RAB has arrested eight persons from various parts of the country, including the capital, on charges of women trafficking.
They have been identified as Rokon, Ayesha, Hamid, Hassan, Rabbi, Milton, Samad and Mamun.
A RAB official said they had been nabbed in raids conducted in different parts of Gazipur, Benapole and Dhaka on Sunday.
He said, four women gathered for trafficking had been rescued during the raids. “They are all members of an international women trafficking gang. The gang traffics poor and helpless women on false promises of good jobs and a better life abroad,” RAB media wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan said.
“They hold them as hostages and torture women for money,” he told bdnews24.com.
The RAB official said, several passports with fake visas had been recovered from them.
