Eight events of archery in the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games were decided on the concluding day at the Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Gazipur on Tuesday.
Ram Krishna Saha of Bangladesh Air Force bagged gold medal in the men’s recurve singles event of the archery competition, while Md Tamimul Islam of Bangladesh Police Archery Club clinched silver medal in this event and Md Shakib Molla of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP earned bronze medal in this event.
In the women’s recurve singles event, Nasrin Akter of Dhaka Army Archery Club bagged gold medal, while Najmin Khatun of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP grabbed silver medal and Mehnaj Akter Monira of Dhaka Army Archery Association earned bronze medal.
In the men’s recurve compound event, Ashim Kumar Das of Bangladesh Police Archery Club captured gold, while Newaz Ahmed Rakib of Border Guard Bangladesh claimed silver and Md Ashiquzzaman of Bangladesh Police earned bronze.
In the women’s compound event, Roksana Akter of Dhaka Army Archery Club claimed gold, while Pushpita Zaman of BKSP bagged silver and Banya Akter of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP earned bronze.
In the men’s recurve team event, BKSP gained gold, while Bangladesh Police gained silver and Dhaka District Sports Association earned bronze medal.
In the women’s recurve team event, Bangladesh Police Archery Club claimed gold, while BKSP bagged silver and Dhaka Army Archery Club earned bronze.
In the men’s compound team event, Dhaka Army Archery Club bagged gold, while Bangladesh Ansar gained silver and Bangladesh Police Archery Club earned bronze medal.
In the women’s compound team event, Dhaka Army Archery Club bagged gold, while Bangladesh Ansar & VDP claimed silver and Bangladesh Police Archery Club took bronze medal.
After the archery competitions, Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest, while Vice-President of BOA Sheikh Bashir Ahmed was with him as the special guest.
President of Bangladesh Archery Federation Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Mainul Islam, Vice-Presidents of the federation Md Mahfuzur Rahman Siddique, Md Anisur Rahman Dipu and General Secretary of the federation Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol were present at the time, among others.
