8 AL men charged with assault on Feni UNO

A court here on Tuesday framed charges against eight local Awami League leaders and activists in a case filed for assaulting Parshuram Upazila Nirbahi Officer HM Rakib Haidar.
Passing the order in the presence of the eight accused, Judge of Feni Speedy Trial Tribunal Rajesh Chowdhury fixed
June 28 for the formal trial to start with the testimony of witnesses.
The court also rejected petitions filed by the accused seeking acquittal.
Officer-in-Charge of Parshuram Police Station Abul Kshem Chowdhury, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet on May 16 against eight AL leaders, including Feni AL senior vice-president Khairul Bashar Majumdar Topon and Parshuram municipal councillor Abdul Mannan.
On May 6, Parshuram UNO HM Rakib Haider was assaulted allegedly by a local Awami League leader and his men for not showing respect to him. UNO jeep driver Abul Kashem had filed a case against 19 people with Parshuram Police Station in this connection.
