TCB starts 'family cards'programme: 8.51 lakh to get essentials in Kishoreganj, Manikganj, Ishwardi

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started special family cards programme across the country from Sunday to sale essential items at fair prices.
A total of 1 crore low-income families will get these essential items.
In Kishoreganj, At least 282570 low-income people in 108 unions, 8 municipalities and 13 upazilas of Kishoreganj to get essentials at fair prices.
Deputy Commissioner in Kishoreganj Mohammad Shamim Alam formally inaugurates the TCB products selling at Puranthana in the town on Sunday morning.
ADC (General) Nazmul Islam Sarker, Mayor Pervez Miah, CAB district president Alam Sarowar Tito , district press club president Mostafa Kamal, Journalist Saiful Islam, Municipal Secretary , ward councillor and others dignified persons were also present.
The programme includes two phases–the first phase of sale will continue till March 30 while the second phase will go on from April 3-20.
The TCB has arranged sale’ across the country to sell edible oil at Tk 110 per kg, sugar at Tk 55 per kg, lentil at Tk 65 per kg and onion at Tk 30 per kg.
In order to facilitate the sale of TCB’s products in a systematic manner, a list of these families has been prepared and special family cards have been distributed.
Of these, primary selected at least 8190 TCB families cards in Kishoreganj municipality areas, mayor Pervez Miah added.
Manikganj Correspondent reports: On the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan, TCB (Trading Corporation of Bangladesh) daily necessities will sell to low income people at a subsidized price among 82,904 beneficiaries in Manikganj. Family cards have already been prepared and delivered to the beneficiaries through public representatives.
This information was given by the chairman of the district committee and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Abdul Latif at a press conference with local journalists on Saturday in the meeting room of the Deputy Commissioner.
Local Government Deputy Director Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) SanwarulHaque, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Sukla Sarkar, ManikganjSadar UNO Mohammad Iqbal Hossain and journalists from print and electronic media were present on the occasion.
According to the database compiled by the government during the Coronation period in Manikganj, cash assistance was provided by the Prime Minister to 38,619 people. Later, under the supervision of district and upazila administration and with the involvement of local people’s representatives, 82,904 beneficiaries including 44,285 new ones have been selected.
During the exchange of views with the journalists, it was revealed from the discussion of various open questions that the family who got the family card will be able to withdraw TCB products twice a month. The first episode will start from March 20 to March 30 and the second episode will run from April 3-20. Within this period all beneficiaries will be provided TCB products from the designated van of the local union council or municipality.
On the first day of distribution of TCB products in the district, 575 people in Manikganj municipality, 894 people in Singair municipality, 555 people in Saturiaupazila, 378 people in Shibalayaupazila, 250 people in Ghiorupazila and 663 people in Daulatpurupazila. TCB products will be given to total 6,352 people.
The products include 2 liters of soybean oil at Tk 110 taka per liter, 2 kg of sugar at Tk 55, 2 kg of lentils at Tk65 and 2 kg of gram at Tk50.
Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent adds: Sale of food items at fair prices has been launched in Ishwardi through “Central TCB Management System” for upcoming Ramadan as announced by the Prime Minister. Freedom fighters Alhaj Nuruzzaman Biswas, MP of Pabna-4 constituency, inaugurated the programme at Sara Union on Sunday. Assistant Commissioner (Land) TM Rahsin Kabir presided over the function.
Special guests were Upazila Chairman Freedom fighters Alhaj Naib Ali Biswas, Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan and Chairman of Sara UP Emdadul Haque Rana Sardar. TCB’s products were distributed among 1,400 cardholders.
Masud Rana, Assistant Programmer, Ishwardi Upazila ICT, developed the Central TCB Management Software System to prevent fraud. Masud Rana said that the software of this technology has been developed by Ishwardi Upazila Administration following the instructions given by the Prime Minister to use the digital platform. This TCB Food Friendly Program will be monitored and managed through technology to prevent theft and counterfeiting of TCB food items at fair prices and other government assistance.
Only by scanning and submitting a family contact card from an app will the results be known successfully and the report will be sent to Central. Through this technology invented by Ishwardi Upazila Parishad, 4 lakh 77 thousand cards will be monitored in 38 upazilas of the country.
PM Imrul Kayes, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, described the TCB management system as a timely and unprecedented invention. The activities will be monitored and managed through a dashboard. TCB product theft and counterfeiting from Central and the same person will not be able to receive multiple collaborations or benefits at the same time. With the help of this software invented by Ishwardi, suggestions for its use have been sent all over the country and it has also been received. He firmly believes that this software can be used to manage and monitor various humanitarian assistance activities of the government.
