BSS, Dhaka :
Indian High Commission opened another new Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in the capital to ease the visa processing for Bangladeshi nationals.
Indian High Commissioner (Acting) Sandeep Chakravorty on Thursday opened the 7th IVAC at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) at Road no-2 in city’s Dhanmondi.
Speaking on the occasion, Chakravorty said the Indian Government plans to open more IVACs in Bangladesh to facilitate the people intending to visit the next door neighbouring country.
“There are huge demands for Indian visa among the Bangladeshi nationals. . . more new IVAC would be opened in the big district towns of the country. We always provide highest services to the people of Bangladesh on the basis of their necessity,” he added.
About the complexities on the appointment date for visa application, the acting Indian envoy said: “Visa is issued serially after getting application in online. But, no appointment date is required for medical visa. . .medical visa is issued walk-in basis if anyone come with necessary documents.”
He, however, sought assistances from the law enforcement agencies to check the unauthorized brokers or middlemen calling them as troublemakers for visa seekers.
“We are applying different methods regularly to check the harassment caused by the brokers. But, it’s an internal matter of Bangladesh and the country has to take effective measures in this regard,” Chakravarty said.
Country chief State Bank of India in Bangladesh Pinak Chakravorty,Visa Operation Officer Niraj K Gupta along with other officials were present on the occasion.
The State Bank of India (SBI), as the agent of The Indian High Commission in Dhaka, will accept all categories of visa applications and deliver visas.

Such facilities are now available in Gulshan and Motijheel in Dhaka and also in Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi.
