It is wondering that 78,082 applications of job seekers have been submitted against only nine post of Deputy Inspector General of the Directorate of Narcotics Control (SI).
The number of applications against each position is 872 though monthly salary for the SI is around Tk26000.
Officials were surprised to find the number of applications after the notification of appointment of SI officers and some 242 posts in December 2017.In contrast of 242 posts, there were two lakh and17 thousand applications. The situation is such that it is almost impossible for the organization to make initial scrutiny of big volume of applications.
Officials said, they could not find any reason of 78,082 applications for the nine posts of Tk 26000 monthly salary.
Drug control officials said that in December last year, the application for appointment of 24 types of 242 posts were sought.
Of these, 78082 job seekers have applied for nine SI positions. Apart from this 3,558 applicants have applied for 12 posts of account
and 1500 job seekers have applied tow posts of assistant prosecutor. These three posts will be paid by Grade-11. Whose main salary is Tk12,000. In addition to home and other facilities, the total salary will be Tk 26000. The minimum qualification of these three positions was sought in graduate pass.
Besides, 603 applications was submitted for one position of research information collector, 2,562 in four posts of computer operator, 3,187 in 46 posts of driver, 52403 in 28 posts of office assistant, 3,436 in three posts of telephone operator, 41,888 in 101 posts in Sipai, 29,646 in 30 posts of the wireless operator, 758 in four posts of security guard and 291for two posts of cleaners.
Directorate of Narcotics Control’s Deputy Director (administration) Muhammad Mamun told The New Nation that the whole application process is completed in online. The last date for the application was January 31.
The directorate is thinking about that how to handle the huge applications and how to take their test, he said.
An official said conditioning anonymity said that the total manpower of the Department of Narcotics Control is 1,192. Some more people are under recruitment. They could never have thought of so many applications for these positions.
Now it is almost impossible for them to scrutinize initially. Therefore, talking about is going on whether the examination can be given to BUET or Dhaka University.
