Seventy-seven new books landed on Monday, the 10th day of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
Of them, 13 were storybooks, 17 novels, two essay books, 17 poems, one research, three children literature, three biography, two dramas, three on science, one on travel, one on politics, two on religious, one dictionary and 13 on other subjects.

Vanicer Denish Shaheb by Faridur Reza Sagar, Hominger Deshe by Shahabuddin Nagari, Joto Kando Chiar Nia by Anisul Haque, Bhoy Kingba Valobhasa by Jafar Ikbal, Desh Bibhag : Firay Dekha by Ahmed Rafique, Maya Britta by Jogen Chowdhury, Socrates by Abul Hasnat Abdullah and Desh Bibhag Firay Dekha by Ahmed Rafique.
Thousands of visitors entered the premises yesterday despite it was not holiday. As per of the rules of the Bangla Academy authorities, the fair is open from 3pm and closes at 8pm every day except ‘The Children’s Day.
Banker Mubashshir said that he used to feel discomfort if he missed it. “I come at least twice a week,’ he said
Nazmul Hasan, a student of Dhaka University, said that they requested their teacher to take the schedule class in the early morning. The teacher agreed and they came to the fair without loosing any class of their department.
A discussion on “Ajit Kumar Guha” was held on the main stage of the fair yesterday. Kamal Lohani presided over while Hayat Mamud presented the keynote paper. Ramendu Majumder, Abed Khan and Mahbub Talukder discussed..
A fascinating cultural programme was held in the evening participated, among others, by Rebeka Sultana, Mahmud Salim, Anup Battachaya, Azad Hafiz, Sondipon Das, Bijon Chandra Mistri, Shama Sarker, Farhana Shirin and Shahina Akhter Papia.
A discussion on “Habibullah Bahar Chowdhury” will be held in the main podium of the fair at 4pm today. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will preside over the programme while Salimullah Khan will present a keynote paper. Mohammad Abdul Quiyum, Kazi Madina and Khushi Kabir will be present as the discussants.
