Customs official seized 76 gold bars from two vacuum cleaners of two passengers at Shah Amanat International Airport here on Wednesday.
Mashiur Rahman Mandal, Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong Airport Customs authority, said the customs officials seized 76 gold bars kept in the two vacuum cleaners of two passengers-Foysal Shikdar and Mohamamd Iskandar-who came to Chittagong from Sarjah by a flight of Air Arabia on June 27 and 29 respectively.
The present market value of the seized gold is Tk 3.80 crore. However, no one was arrested in this connection.
Besides, the customs officials seized 390 grams gold from the possession of a passenger named Sharifa Akter when a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Dubai landed at Chittagong Airport early Wednesday. The customs officials also seized 48 expensive mobile phone sets from the luggage of another Biman passenger Aftabul Islam at the same time.
