Some 75 new books hit the Amar Ekhusey Book Fair on the 8th day of the show on Monday. The new books include 19 novels, two on story, five on article, five on poetry, two on research, seven children literature, three autobiography, one on liberation war, two science, three on history and two on riddle and puzzle.

Rumi O Tabrezir Golap of Siddique Harun published by Oitezzas, Tumi Sukhey Thakbey Bole of Harun-ar-Rashid published by Somoy Prokash, Khudar Kabbo of Amzad Hossain published by Bivash, Kabita Samagra of Shihab Sarkar published by Nobajug Prokashoni, Bangladesher Prabandha Sahitta of Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque published by Kathaprokash, Rumal Valobasha of Arpi Ahmed published by Ananna, Anna Desh of Kazi Shafiqul Azam published by Anupam Prokashani, among other new books.
A huge number of visitors entered the Boi Mela premises yesterday despite it was not holiday. As per of the rules of the Bangla Academy authorities, the fair is open 3 pm and closes at 8 pm except the `The Childen’s Day’ and `Language Day’.
Badrul Ahsan-a Deputy Secretary said that he used to feel discomfort if he missed it. “I came at least one or twice in a week”, he said.
Sarwar Hossain Shuvo-a student of Jahangirnagar University said that he came to Mela with his friends from their campus. They requested their teacher to take the schedule class in the early morning. The teacher agreed and they came to the fair without lossing any class of their department.
A discussion titled “ Bangla Academir Hirokjoyanti: Patthopustak Rachona, Otit Thekey Bartaman” was held at 4:00 pm in the main podium of Academy. Professor Ajoy Roy presided over the function while Shuvrata Barua presented the keynote. Ratan Siddiqui, Maloy Bhoumik and Nurunnahar Mukta was present as the discussant.
A fascinating cultural programme was held in the main prodium. The artistes were Fatema-tuz-Zohara, Yakub Ali Khan, Yeasmin Mustari and Lima Taposhi, among others.
