The government has allocated 744 tonnes of rice for the distressed and ultra poor people of the district on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme.
District relief and rehabilitation office source said the rice would be distributed to 74,437 VGF cardholders of three upazilas and three pourasabhas in the district.
Of the total rice 140.81 tonnes would be distributed among 14,081 cardholders in Sadar upazila, 398.1 tonnes to 39,801 cardholders in Lohagara and 113.13 tonnes to 11,313 cardholders in Kalia upazila.
Each of the beneficiaries will get 10 kilograms of rice under the programme.
