Police in separate drives arrested 32 people, including an activist of BNP, from different parts of the district, from Friday to Saturday morning, on various charges.
Mizanur Rahman, inspector of the Special Branch of Satkhira police, said of the arrestees, 11 people were held from Sadar upazila, five from Kolaroa, three from Tala, three from Kaliganj, five from Shyamnagar, two from Ashashuni, two from Debhata and one from Patkelghata upazilas of the district. The arrestees are accused in different cases like acts of sabotage and drug abuse, the police official added.
They also recovered 69 pieces of Indian sarees.
BSS from Dinajpur adds: Police, in special drives from Friday night to yestrerday morning, arrested 42 people, including six Jamaat e-Islami and three drug traders, and recovered 308 bottles of Phensidyl and 20,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets from nine upazilas of the district.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
Police said, during the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested nine, Hakimpur police arrested five including three drug traders with 308 bottles of Phensidyl, Khansama Thana police three, Kaharole three, Birampur police two, Phulbari Thana police three, Parbatipur Thana police one, Ghoraghat police arrested 12 including six Jamaat-e-Islami activists, Birganj Thana police two and Nawabganj police arrested two persons.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in another drive recovered 20,000 pieces of cow fattening tablets from Hili railway station in Hakimpur upazila in an abandoned condition.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
The arrested people were sent to jail.
