Customs officials have seized 74 gold bars worth around Tk 36 million from three passengers at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The passengers – ‘Ibrahim’, ‘Mohsin’, and ‘Rokonuzzaman’-landed at the airport on a Regent Airways flight from Bangkok early on Monday, said Assistant Commissioner Saidul Islam of Dhaka Custom House. “The gold bars were hidden inside the handles of their trolley bags. The market value of the bars weighing around 7 kilos is around Tk 36 million,” he told bdnews24.com.
“Necessary steps have been taken in line with Customs Act, 1969,” he added.
