The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive seized 73,845 pieces of abandoned Yaba in an open field in the city’s Uttara area early Sunday.
They also arrested four persons in connection with the Yaba seizure. They are Ismail Uddin, 23, Delwar Hossain, 27, Sumon Mia, 35 and Kamal Hossein, 36, RAB official said. RAB-1 Operation Officer Major Mededi Islam said that a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the field based on information and seized the Yaba and a private car around 3:45am.
The arrested men were awaiting in the area to receive the Yaba tables from Cox’s Bazar based inter-district drug peddling gangs, the RAB official said.
The detained men confessed their involvement with the drug smuggling and business syndicate across the country, he added.
A case was filed with the Uttara East Police Station in this connection, according to him.
