The government has taken 720 developmentprojects involving Taka 3,800 crore to combat the vulnerability being posed by the climate change.
Bangladesh climate Change Trust (BCCT) has been implementing these projects to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which was revealed recently at a workshop at BCCT office, said a press release here. Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Secretary Ziaul Hasan said the BCCT has to take more development projects prioritizing climate change affected areas to pave the way of achieving the SDGs.
He also laid emphasis on ensuring the quality of the development works financing by the government through regular monitoring and visit. Additional Secretaries Mizanul Huq Chowdhury and Ahmad Shami Al Raji also spoke with BCCT Managing Director Masud Ahmad in the chair. BCCT has been implementing different development works including river bank preservation, forestation, canal excavation and re-excavation, installation of solar power system, biogas plant, supply of drinking water, drainage system and construction of cyclone tolerant houses in the coastal regions etc.
BCCT has already completed implementation of 375 projects successfully which was revealed at the workshop.
