Rajshahi Metropolitan Police detained 40 drug sellers and users from different parts of the city during special anti-drug drives conducted from Monday night to Tuesday morning .
Of them, 10 each were arrested under Boalia model police station, six under Rajpara police station, three under Chandrima police station, six under Matihar police station, four under Katakhali police station, one under Belpukur police station, one under Shah Makhdum police station, two under Airport police station, one under Paba police station, three under Kashiyadangya police station, one under Damkura police station and two were arrested by Detective Branch of police.
Legal action has been taken already against those detainees, RMP additional police commissioner Golam Ruhul Kuddus also said.
UNB from Kurigram adds: Police arrested 31 people in separate drives and recovered 3,215 Yaba pills from Monday midnight till Tuesday morning.
Mohammad Mohibul Islam Khan, Superintendent of Kurigram Police, said 12 of those are warranted accused.
He said the government has taken zero tolerance policy against drug abuse and general people should come forward so that the district couldn’t be used as route of drug smuggling.
