The Mobile Court on Thursdqay evicted seven thousand feet gas lines in different areas of Feni Sadar upazila.
Led by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer PKM Enamul Karim, a team has conducted the drives at Gabindapur, Katalia and Chaltatali areas of the upazila. The Mobile Court fined Tk 204500 from 77 families who took the illegal gas connections.
The sources said that a syndicate set up the illegal gas lines in exchange of huge amount of money from the users assuring them to legalise the lines after managing the local administration.
The local people accused some local people namely Shimul, Amir Hossain, Md Alam, Sirajul Islam, Azam, Abul Kalam, Karimul Haque, Jasim Uddin, Mati Siraj and Abul Bashar contractor as the members of the syndicate. “They cheated with the people,” they alleged. However, Manager of Bakharbad Gas, Feni Branch, Abdul Quader expressed his ignorance about the illegal gas connections. He also denied involvement of any official of the Bakharbad Gas in this connection. He also said that they would take action against the corrupt people who tried to set up illegal lines.
