A contingent of the Coast Guards seized a cargo from the go-down ghat area of Mongla Thana in Bagerhat district and recovered some 70 metric tones of smuggled wheat from it on Monday in the early hours, according to a report received here.
Atiqur Rahman Bhuiya, an officer of the Coast Guards of the Western Zone said that acting on a secret information an operation contingent raided the godown ghat area of Mongla in the early hours on Monday. But sensing the appearance of the Coast Guards the smugglers fled away leaving a cargo named MV.Mathbaria-1 there. Then the coastguards seized the cargo and recovered as many as 70 metric tones of wheat from it. The seized cargo and wheat were handed over to the Mongla PS for taking legal action.
