Staff Reporter :Police in a drive arrested a suspected criminal when he was making bombs in the city’s Khilkhet area on Wednesday night.The arrested youth was identified as Imran Hossain, 20, a second year student of the Government Titumir College.Police also recovered 70 chocolate bombs, 4.0 kg powders, 1.5 kg gunpowder, bomb-making materials and a large number of books and CDs (compact disks) from his possession.Nazrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khilkhet Police Station said that acting on a tip off, a special team of police raided a house at Namapara and arrested Imran.Searching the house, police recovered chocolate bombs and other explosive substances from his possession, the OC said.We are investigating whether he had any link with militant group or he had any plan to conduct subversive activities,” he said.More people might be involved with this, which is under investigation now,” the police official said.A case was filed in this connection, he said.
