A schoolgirl got her left arm severed after a truck knocked her down at Sherua Battala in Bogura’s Sherpur upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The victim is Sumi Khatun, 7, daughter of Dulal Khan of Kanaigathi in the upazila, reports our local correspondent quoting police.
M Osman Goni, Sub-Inspector of Sherpur Police Station, said that the stone-laden truck hit the girl around 2:30pm while she was crossing the road along with her mother.
In the accident, the schoolgirl’s left arm got severed from the elbow, he said.
Locals first took her to Sherpur Upazila Health Complex from where she was shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, the SI said, adding that they seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.
On April 3, Rajib Hossain, a second-year undergraduate student of Titumir College, and Khalid Hasan Ridoy, 20, a transport worker, have become of victims of such accidents. He succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on April 17.
