At least seven workers sustained burn injuries in two separate boiler explosions in Shyampur and Keraniganj areas under Dhaka district early Sunday.
The victims were identified as Moshiur Rahman, 24, Bulbul, 20, Abu Sayeed, 40, Mahbubur Rahman, 24, Badshah Mia, 17, Arif Hossain, 18, and Sujan Baida, 30.
They are undergoing treatment at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said Kowshik Mollik, a doctor of the DMCH.
In Shyampur, four workers got burn injuries when a boiler of Salam Steel blasted over the workers at around 12:30am, Fire Service sources said. In Keraniganj, three workers of an embroidery factory received burn injuries in a boiler explosion at Telghata around 12:15am. Soon after the explosion, the ceiling of the ground floor of the two-storied building fell on them, said the sources.
DMCH Police Outpost In-charge and Sub-Inspector Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter.
