Chittagong Metropolitan Police arrested seven alleged terrorists after a gunfight from a residential hotel in Anumajhir Ghat area of the city Saturday night.
A police constable Sabirul Islam and terrorist Bacha Miah received bullet injuries during the gunfight.
Police said many cases including murder and kidnapping case were pending against Bacha Miah with different police stations in the city and Zorargonj thana in the district.
Officer in Charge of Sadarghat thana Pronob Kumar Chowdhury, said acting on secret information that a group of terrorists were staying at Akash Hotel a team of police raided the hotel at about 10 pm last night.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the terrorists opened fire on them, prompting police to fire back that triggered a gunfight, he added.
After the gunfight, the law enforcers arrested seven alleged terrorists from the spot. The injured persons were admitted at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
